Our Partners

Collaborative working is second nature to NBC so it’s not surprising that we work closely with a number of different partners.

At the Luther King Centre for Theology and Ministry, our home base, we belong to a partnership of free church colleges, working together to teach a range of academic programmes from certificate level, through to diploma, bachelor’s degree, and master’s degree (with the possibility of specialising in an MA in Chaplaincy Studies, accredited by the UK Board for Healthcare Chaplains (UKBHC).

Each of these programmes is validated through Common Awards by The University of Durham, which is part of the Russell Group of top UK universities.

We also offer the opportunity to study for a PhD, validated by York St John University.

We also work closely with five of the Baptist Union’s regional associations: The Northern Baptist Association, The Yorkshire Baptist Association, The North Western Baptist Association, The Heart of England Baptist Association and The East Midlands Baptist Association.

We also have a partnership with a theological centre, St. Hild in Sheffield. Some of our students do part of their training there. Additionally, we have some students who do part of their training with the free Church track with Cranmer Hall in Durham. NBC have also recently entered into a partnership with the Light College and Collective in Chester. https://www.lightproject.org.uk

As one outworking of our commitment to urban settings we are also partners with Urban Expression, an inner-city church planting agency, and with Urban Life, a network of people exploring and researching new approaches to mission and Christian presence in deprived and marginalised urban neighbourhoods.
